Blog » Breeds that looked differently before

This blog post was written by: HolyCow

My Horsez International has passed the 1 year old milestone! Meanwhile, the Dutch server has already been there for 17 years. So although My Horsez seems like quite a new game, it already has quite a bit of history! Although a lot things stayed the same, some things still had to change to make My Horsez the game it is today! One of those things, is the look of our beloved pixelpony’s. Did you know that a lot of our breeds used to look a little different? Take a look!

1. Sturdy Quarter Horses

The Quarter Horse was, together with the Mustang (who is not yet on MyHorsez International), the first in our current series of breed updates. Previously, breeds would sometimes receive an update when the Dutch server of My Horsez transitioned to a new version, such as during a switch from versions in 2015. However, since 2015, no breed updates had been made… until July 2020! Suddenly, the Quarter Horse had a new, shiny look, that we now all know and love here as well!

2. Golden Haflingers

Talking about a glow-up! Since its introduction on the Dutch server in 2011, the Haflinger has been updated not once, but twice! The first time was during the version update in 2015, and it definitely showed a clear improvement! However, that didn’t mean the Haflinger’s design had reached its final stage. In December 2023, it was time to give the Haflinger a new look once again, and admit it: it still looks fantastic! Well-suited to be one of the starter breeds on MyHorsez International, don’t you think?

3. Eye-catching Andalusians

The Haflinger isn’t the only breed that has been updated more than once. The Andalusian has also undergone multiple transformations! Since 2011, the Andalusian has been one of the starter horses on the Dutch server. A good first impression is, of course, very important, so the Andalusian had to be a real eye-catcher! It was therefore one of the breeds that received a new look in 2015. At a glance, you could recognize this baroque horse! Thus, the bar was set quite high for a new design when this breed was updated again last year as part of the Christmas event, and additionally introduced as a new breed here on My Horsez International. But let’s be honest: they absolutely nailed it!

4. Fluffy Belgians

Drafts are oftentimes either a ‘hate it’ or ‘love it’. Belgian Draught Horses were introduced on the Dutch server in 2014. Quite a long time ago! To get as many players as possible to fall in love with these chonky babies, they were updated in 2021. Ofcourse, these fluffy cuties were a perfect fit for My Horsez International as well, and were among the first breeds available here.

5. Mighty Welsh Mountain Ponies

Small but mighty! The Welsh Mountain Pony appeared on the Dutch server in 2012. Needless to say, 10 years later, they were due for an update. Even so, the old design was still well-loved, and you can see the new design stayed close to the original!

Of course we always aim to improve our current horse breeds, as well as include new breeds with lovely designs! What breeds who are already available on the dutch server, would you love to see on My Horsez International? (You can find a full list of the available breeds here: https://www.myhorsez.com/nl/wiki/cat/14/Rassen (Warning: Spoilers!).

Note: The Dutch server, including the wiki, is written completely in the dutch language. However, when clicking on the different wiki pages, you can still see the current designs of all breeds available on the Dutch server!)

I adore old Quarter and BDH foals! All versions have their charm, I kinda love all of em

Icelandics would be so good as a winter themed breed! They become so fluffy and cute when it's cold!
