General breed information
The Arabian horse is probably the oldest breed in existence and is at least 5,000 years old. It originated in Asia on the Arabian Peninsula.
It is a finely built breed with a height of around 1.50 metres. The back is short and the croup high, and the horses often carry their tails in the air when excited. They have an elegant curved neck with a finely shaped head and a slight dip in the nose. They come in chestnut, black, bay and grey colours. The sabino gene also occurs occasionally.
They are known for their hot temperament, but are often very friendly. They also have enormous stamina, due to their former life in the desert. This makes them very popular for endurance riding. But that doesn't mean you can't do other sports with them.
