The Irish Cob is known under a couple of different names: Irish Cob, Irish Vanner, Gypsy Vanner & Gypsy Cob. They are known as the calm horses that the Gypsies rode.

Tinkers are broad, well-muscled horses with thick hair on the mane, tail and fetlocks. In winter, they also easily develop a thick winter coat. They have a very varied height, ranging from 1.35m to as much as 1.70m. The most common color is black-and-white, but bay, chestnut, grey, cream, and very occasionally dapple also occur. In addition to tobiano, they can also be sabino or solid.

They are horses with a good-natured and robust character. They are primarily used as recreational horses, both for pulling carts and under saddle.
